SFC Energy North America is celebrating their Calgary-based company’s journey, 50 years in the making. From Simark Controls to SFC Energy, from the launch of the EFOY fuel cell family to the opening of new locations, a lot has happened over the past five decades.
We caught up with Derek L’Hirondelle, Executive Vice President at SFC North America, to talk about the company’s past, present and future.
Here’s what he had to say:
The acquisition of Simark Controls is the obvious one and was the catalyst that shaped who we are today. More recently, in 2019, we successfully opened our Grande Prairie location and outgrew the facility over the last 3 years, resulting in SFC expanding the office and warehouse space.
Another relevant milestone would be our successful expansion into Eastern Canada. We’ve been serving the Eastern Canadian market since 2015 and have more exciting news to share very soon.
It’s cliché to say this, but it’s our people – not only in Canada but globally in Munich and the Netherlands. SFC Energy has some of the most visionary, skilled and dedicated people you’ll come by. I’m proud to work alongside them.
Good question and very important. Outside of the office, we like to mix things up on occasion by having trivia events or Friday evening digital socials. But each and every day, we focus on one of our core values: Shaping the Future Together.
