Why choose an EFOY Pro remote power system?

Conventional power sources are often unreliable or offer only short periods of supply. Solar-powered systems can’t guarantee a reliable power supply throughout the whole year, batteries have very limited autonomy and generators produce harmful emissions. EFOY Pro fuel cells are the perfect power generator for stationary and mobile applications. Best of all, the EFOY Pro’s streamlined footprint, extended autonomy and remote monitoring capabilities all combine to provide users with a 30 – 50 percent lower total cost of ownership and 99 percent reduction in CO2 equivalent emissions.

How does the EFOY Pro work?

EFOY fuel cells are based on DMFC (Direct Methanol Fuel Cell) technology, which converts methanol into electricity through a single stage catalytic conversion process. They’re one of the cleanest, most efficient ways to generate power and the perfect complement to solar. When a solar array is unable to deliver sufficient power, the EFOY senses the battery voltage drop. It automatically switches on to charge battery bank before returning to stand-by mode.

How long does the methanol for the fuel cell last?

EFOY Pro fuel cells supply off-grid power for months without user intervention. We size EFOY Pro Hybrid solutions to meet customer-specific load and location requirements, providing 12 – 18 months of fuel autonomy. Maintenance of the EFOY Pro fuel cells is not required.

For which applications is the EFOY Pro designed?

Our power supply solutions are used anywhere solar modules, diesel generators and batteries reach the limits of their capabilities: EFOY fuel cell products provide a reliable, environmentally friendly, maintenance free source of power – anywhere power is needed.

Can an EFOY Pro fuel cell also be monitored?

EFOY Pro fuel cells can be monitored remotely. The EFOY Pro has Modbus capabilities to connect to a SCADA systems or we connect using our GSR modem. It notifies the user of upcoming fuel cartridge replacements, ensures planning safety and reduces the need for administration and maintenance.

How much does an EFOY Pro cost?

The EFOY Pro models

EFOY Pro fuel cells are intelligent power generators that can monitor a battery’s charge status and recharge it automatically. Once the battery is recharged, the fuel cell returns to standby mode – no maintenance or user intervention required.

The EFOY Pro fuel cells are available in various performance categories, with outputs ranging from 45 W for small-scale power systems to a 500 W module for telecommunications applications. With a Cluster Controller, multiple devices can also be connected to one battery system, providing multiple kW outputs.

EFOY fuel cells are often used in remote locations and require the ability to secure remote access. With the cloud-based EFOY Remote Monitoring System, you have access to your fuel cells from anywhere giving you the ability to monitor ongoing operations via laptop, tablet, or smartphone. All you need is an Internet connection to your fuel cells via modem.

Remote monitoring

Batteries have very limited autonomy. Whether in a vehicle, on a construction site or in a control cabinet, if an application is supplied only by batteries, frequent battery changes and therefore the costs of keeping the application running are extremely high. With an EFOY Pro fuel cell, deep discharges of batteries can be avoided, increasing autonomy by many times, minimizing downtimes and service intervals and therefore considerably reducing costs.

100 % power availability based on hybrid switch from battery to fuel cell. The EFOY & EFOY Pro fuel cell constantly monitors the charge status of the battery and automatically charges it. This means your application is always reliably supplied with power. The fuel cell produces power in any weather, at all times of the year, everywhere. The EFOY Pro’s high reliability in generating power reduces costs. Downtimes are prevented.

Long operating life, maintenance-free

EFOY & EFOY Pro fuel cells supply off-grid power for months – without any user intervention. Our fuel cells use methanol – an alcohol with an extremely high energy density. Ten litres of methanol contain 11.1 kWh of energy. Four 28 litre fuel cartridges can power a 50 W device autonomously for about 26 weeks.

Quiet and environmentally friendly

During operation, the sole by-products are small quantities of carbon dioxide and water. Thanks to environmentally friendly power generation, the EFOY & EFOY Pro can be used in nature reserves as well as in closed vehicles and rooms. The EFOY fuel cells are equally suitable for covert investigations, thanks to their low-vibration and quiet operation without heat generation.

Lightweight and compact

With a weight of 6-8 kg (13-18 lbs) and dimensions of 448 x 198 x 275 mm (17,6 x 7,8 x 10,8 in), the EFOY & EFOY Pro fits into any control cabinet and is easy to transport.
