We are looking for a Production Designer & Drafter – Calgary, AB

Reporting to the Production Manager, a successful candidate will possess the skills geared towards control panel design, parts selection, sizing of equipment, and electrical integration of products under the SFC group.

    • What We Expect?

  • Entry Level Position, Looking for Recent Graduate for Electrical Design & Drafting
  • Minimum 2-3 Years of 2D AutoCAD Experience related to Mechanical and Electrical Integration (Experience with 3D Software is an added benefit, but not required for job duties)

    • Ability to Create/ Plan for Mechanical Layouts & Elevation Drawings

    Ability to Create Electrical Schematics & Interconnection Diagrams

  • Professionally Recognized AutoCAD Certificate (or Equivalent)
  • Interest & Knowledge related to Control Panel Design & Fabrication
  • Open to utilize ERP/MRP or equivalent for systems and Data management
  • Ability to work independently and in Team environments
  • Excellent Communication and Interpersonal skills
  • Able to manage several live tasks and switch focus as needed
  • Self-motivate and pace oneself to meet timeline requirements for deliverables
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word/Excel/Access/Outlook)

    • Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Custom Integration related to Key Products including:

    • ABB Variable Frequency Drives and Related Power Systems

    EFOY Fuel Cell Products & Accessories (incl. Solar Applications)

    Schneider Electric RTU and Telemetry Packaging

    Other Product lines as needed

  • Design Systems and use products as per Manufacturer’s Instructions to meet CSA/CEC/UL and Customer Requirements (Related to: General Purpose Industrial Control Panels and Hazardous Areas)
  • Detailed Enclosure and Sheet Metal Drawings related to Knockouts, Cutouts, and Punch for Equipment (Includes selection for drill & tap hole size, mounting studs, and other various tooling needs)
  • Interconnection of Equipment, Cable Sizing/Schedules, and Specification of wiring methods (Consists of Ampacity Conductor Sizing, Lug/Crimp Types, Termination Methods, and Torque Requirements)
  • Plans related to landing equipment concerning the physical and electrical spacing on a mounting panel (ie/ special awareness, clash/creep avoidance, multiple viewports, and clearance needs)
  • Specifying Bill of Materials to the Procurement Teams with Order Quantities and Part Numbers
  • Creation and Release of Work Orders for the Production and Accounting Teams
  • Interfacing with the Project Management teams for Order Execution and Project Needs
  • Issuing of Drawings for Approval (IFA), Construction (IFC), Fabrication, and As-Built Records (Includes the ability to identify changes and communicate updates to affected Team members)
  • Ability to Collaborate with Shop Personnel, Drafting Peers, Product Experts, R&D Design Team, and Vendors for input related to design methods and implementation of feedback
  • Creation and Maintenance of Drawing Standards and Templates for Product Standardization
